Morocco / Beni Malal province: The new governor orders the police to attack the protesters who were expelled from the Shams hotel

Sources from the local union of the Democratic Confederation of Labour in Beni Malal confirmed that the security forces violently attacked the protesters and workers of the Shams hotel on last Sunday’s evening in the city of Malal, which entered its fourth month in a row in protest against the expulsion of a number of workers because of their trade union activity.

Our sources confirmed that this attack came under the direct instructions of the new governor, who also ordered the tear-off of banners and flags and the use of white weapons in the attack of the peaceful protesters, who were the victims of arbitrary expulsion to end their strike.

After long discussions between the general secretary of the local confederation of Beni Malal and the local authorities, the workers recovered the slogans, flags and the entire logistics which were confiscated by the security services. The strike was disrupted and they decided to continue it, in front of the Shams hotel.

The local union of the Democratic Confederation of Labour in Beni Malal and the new governor of the region called on the urgent intervention of the hotel management in order to overcome all aspects of tension and return the workers back to their work, as well as to guarantee their rights and gains as stipulated in the Labour Code. Moreover, they asked it to cut with all with the security intervention in this conflict made by the Shams hotel management.
