The National Union of the Social Development Agency of the Moroccan Workers’ Union organized a national strike with a 48-hour strike, in front of the Ministry of the Family, Women and Social Development in Rabat on 14 and 15 March.
The union stated in a communiqué that the organization of this strike aims to denounce the ministry's continued negligence and its non-meeting of the union’s fair and legitimate demands, especially the establishment of the basic system.
The union called on the ministry to respect its signed commitments and give reasonable solutions to a file that has lasted for 8 years, which has deepened the social crisis in the agency.
It explained that the ministry is determined to introduce a bill to dissolve the Agency for Social Development.
The union blamed the Prime Minister Saad Al-Din Al-Othmani for being the responsible of the tension, warning of an impending explosion due to the non-meeting of the agency’s workers’ demands. It also accused the Minister of Family, Women and Solidarity, Bassima Al-Hakkawi of not being serious during dialogues and not sticking to its results, which raised tension among people
The union stressed that there is no alternative to escalation until all its just and legitimate demands are met, calling on all the political and human rights bodies to support their strike.
