Starting from today and for 5 days: The Algerian workers enter in a general strike in rejection of the fifth term

Today, the workers in Algeria of all sectors are entering in a general strike that will continue until 15 March, in protest against President Bouteflika's fifth term.

The strike comes following the Trade Union Confederation of Productive Forces’ call, after informing the authorities of this strike, according to the laws in force.

The Trade Union Confederation of Productive Forces, in coordination with representatives of army retirees, journalists, the League of Human Rights, Resident Physicians and the Front of the General Confederation of Algerian Workers and Lawyers, confirmed at their meeting last Thursday the need for the workers’ movement to reject the fifth mandate.

They also stressed the need for the departure of Sidi Said, who is considered as a significant member of the corrupt authority, as well as the necessity of the participation of the free trade unionists of the General Confederation of Algerian Workers in the strike and to confirm to the public opinion that Sidi Said does not represent anyone.
