The editor in chief of “Ma'an” news agency revealed that last year rates of unemployment reached 29.1% in Palestine, 52% in the Gaza Strip and 18% in the West Bank. The percentage of unemployment among males was 25%, compared to 51% among females. .
Moreover, he pointed out that the percentage of the female participation in the labor market did not exceed 21%. In fact, the rate of unemployment in Palestine for the age group between 20 to 24 was 44.7% and 40.90% for those aged between 25 to 29.
The highest rate of unemployment in Palestine was recorded among the educated population, which reached 33.6% in Palestine, among the university students in general, and increased to 51.2% among the females, according to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics.
