The Arab Trade Union Confederation expressed its full solidarity with the workers and activists of the Democratic Confederation of Labour (CTD) in the national strike, which will be held on February 20 by the public workers and territorial groups to launch a serious social dialogue that would lead to solutions that would meet the Moroccan working class’ demands.
In a solidarity statement issued by the Arab Trade Union Confederation, which represents the International Trade Union Confederation(ITUC) and all its members’ position, the ATUC pointed out that the several prosecutions against the trade unionists, as well as the arrests and layoff of workers despite the ratification of the Convention 135 on the Protection of Workers' Representatives, by the Kingdom of Morocco, prove that it becomes necessary to launch a responsible and serious social dialogue that would overcome all the problems and achieve positive results that would contribute to the improvement of the social climate.
In this context, the ITUC and ATUC called on the Moroccan government to positively interact with the demands of the Democratic Confederation of Labour (CTD), by engaging in a serious social dialogue and building lasting dialogue relations through the institutionalization of social dialogue.
