The Haifa municipal workers resumed work, yesterday, after the strike they launched on last Wednesday.
The strike included many services provided by the municipality, such as nurseries, as well as, the halt of waste collection, which led to its accumulation, and did not include schools in all its stages, as well as, the hospital "Bani Zion".
The workers' committee said that the reason for this strike was the dispute between the committee and the mayor over a number of issues, including the dismissal of 24 temporary janitors without prior notice, and the violation of the employees and workers’ working conditions in the municipality's health department. This led to the accumulation and great pressure on workers, in light of the municipality's disregard of the workers’ demands to study the current situation.
The workers' representatives ask for the implementation of the recommendations of the organizational consultant's report, which confirmed the severe shortage of manpower and equipment in the health department. Instead of implementing these recommendations, the municipality started an unacceptable step, which is the dismissal of workers from the Health Department.
