Last Monday, hundreds of military retirees staged a strike in front of the royal court to protest against the decision to end their civil service in the armed forces.
According to the Jordanian Labour Observatory, quoting testimonies of the protesters, the decision to terminate their services is a violation of their rights as they have only 12 to 15 years of contribution to the social security.
The retirees indicated that their return to service with civil contracts was a gracious royal decision to help them get a better pension, asking for the continuation of their contracts, until the needed number of social security service is completed, in order to improve their living conditions.
