The Assistant Secretary-General of the International Federation of Industries condemned the recent arrests of the unionists from various unions by the security and gendarmerie and condemned the security intervention in the trade union work. Moreover, he warned the international opinion about the total absence of freedoms in Algeria, in light of this serious violation of the international law.
The International Federation of Industries also filed a complaint against the Algerian government and addressed it to the International Labour Organization (ILO) and another one against the General Electric addressed to the UN Advisory Council because of its cooperation with Sonelgaz for more than $ 43 billion despite the company's violation of the international guidelines and its major attack the on trade union freedoms.
The International Federation of Industries reminded the Algerian government of the recommendations of the Committee on the Implementation of Standards to the Algerian government by obliging it to respect the basic human rights, which are represented by the right to peaceful assembly and the right to the trade union work, as well as the return of all the trade unionists to their work and their compensation for all the damages.
In a statement of the head of the federation of the productive forces, Malal Rauf said: "The International Federation of Industries is one of the largest international trade unions that support democracy and freedoms in the world, and thanked the Assistant Secretary-General Kamal Ozkan for his support, noting that the trade union freedoms are disappearing in Algeria and that the world has to move to support all the imprisoned trade unionists, journalists, and political, as well as juridical activists. "
