On Saturday, 5 January, the local and regional unions of Marrakech, witnessed a struggle for the workers of the Saudi company Nesk Investment, which is specialized in marketing a number of international brands (ready-made clothes and footwear) in Morocco.
Members of the trade union bureau of the company, under the Moroccan Workers’ Union (UMT) organized a protest rally in front of the company's Plaza Gueliz’s shops, expressing their anger over the dismissal of two trade unionists, Fatma Al Attar, the national secretary of the union office and Om Mohamed Moutmani, the vice secretary, after the launching of a protest last week, in front of the company's headquarters in Casablanca.
It is noteworthy that the union office was established after the deterioration of the situation inside the company and as a result of the intransigence of the new administration and its use of many arbitrary methods against workers by fabricating charges and warnings, as well as, random transfers that affected the unionists in particular.
