Next Tuesday, a meeting between the Minister of Labour, the independent Egyptian unions and MPs will take place.

A number of independent union organizations of the national union announced the intention to join a number of MPs to meet with the Minister of Manpower at the ministry, on Tuesday morning, January 15th.

According to a communiqué issued by the Center for Trade Union & Workers Services in Egypt, the ministry was informed of the union representatives' request to meet the minister accompanied by the memorandum signed by 29 trade union organizations to raise the issue of administrative intransigence faced by the independent trade unions. This intransigence is manifested in the non-receipt of the bank documents, civil service, and the Amiri Press official speeches by the trade unions’ representatives. This obstinacy resulted in the refusal to receive the establishment papers of trade unions, despite their completion and validity in accordance with the law, as well as, the suspension of the status of a number of trade unions, which situation has not been settled by the ministry.

It should be noted that the independent trade union organizations of the federation government announced its intention to take this step after the failure of all the attempts to handle issues with the directorates of the workforce and officials of the ministry, where these organizations aim at uncovering the images of intransigence, seeking to settle all these problems and to enable them to play their role.

The Center for Trade Union & Workers Services announced its solidarity with the trade union organizations that have been facing administrative intransigence for months. They called for the implementation of the law, calling on all the union organizations facing administrative intransigence to participate in this step and to meet the Minister of Manpower on Tuesday, as well as, to ask for the halt of all the manifestations of intransigence and to resolve all the pending situations.
