The National Gendarmerie forces in the provinces of “Mila”,” Tabsa” and other governorates have conducted investigations against unionists of the National Union of Electricity and Gas Workers and the National Union of Energy Workers, as well as, the National Federation of Industries.
The secretary-general of the Energy Union, “Zakaria Ben Haddad”, was summoned by the gendarmerie, to ask him to bring a file, consisting of a photo, birth certificate and other certificates, which was considered as a harassment of the union leaders.
Even “Soleimani Mohammed Amin Zakaria”, a member of the National Federation of Industries and also a member of the Federation of the productive forces, was summoned by the gendarmerie in Mila for investigation.
Another trade unionist from Tabsa was also summoned to investigations by the gendarmerie, as well as, “Biskra”, “Bouira” and “Ain Defla” against any suspected member of the independent trade unions.
On the other hand, the head of the trade union confederation of productive forces, “Malal Rauf”, said: "This is a serious harassment by the security, which interferes in the affairs of trade unions and opens investigations in an illegal way. The unions are completely independent from the security authority, and it is high time for the gendarmerie or police forces to stop investigations and summon trade unionists because of their affiliations. "
“Malal” stressed that the confederation will file a complaint to the International Labour Organization against these serious abuses by the security authorities.
