In defence of a real reform for the educational system and training in Morocco: The National Union of Education calls for a series of protests

The National Union of Education, affiliated with the Democratic Confederation of Labour (CTD), decided to launch a 24-hour national strike on Thursday, January 3, 2019, in protest against the growing structural problems affecting the education and training sector and in protest at the stalled negotiations.

It also called on the National Union to join the labour march by cars towards Tangier on Friday, 11 of next month to lift the restrictions on the trade union right in the country in general and in the so-called free zones in particular.

The union issued a statement explaining the reasons for the general strike decision, which highlighted the decline recorded in terms of public freedoms and trade union rights, in light of the disruption of the central social dialogue, and the different education protests of various categories of workers to defend their legitimate demands.

The National Union reviewed the problems of the teachers, who were forced to work as contractual workers, as well as, the educational administration, the educational attachés, the administrative and economic attachés, the certificates’ holders and the guidance and planning cadres, in addition to the problems of the doctors, inspectors, trainees, supervisors, administrators, administrative assistants, technical assistants, etc…

work of the strategic choices of the state to abandon the social services and dismantle the public facility , including the public school through, contracting, and the public-private partnership, describing this as an indication of the dictates of capital financial institutions.

The National Union called for a real reform of the educational and training system as a historic task that cannot be delayed because of crucial roles of school in the development of the economic, social, cultural and political aspects. It also called for a serious dialogue that would lead to an agreement that would meet the aspirations and demands of all the educational workers.

The National Union stressed also the need for the government to respect its commitments through its adherence to the implementation of the agreement of April 26, 2011, asking for the acceleration of the issuance of a fair and equitable system for everyone, that would cover the deficiencies and gaps of the current system, include all the sector's operators and promote all the workers.
