The Communist Party held a press conference on Wednesday in which it reviewed all the details of the martyrs, the wounded and the detainees during the mass movement in Sudan to ask for better living conditions.
The party stressed that "the Sudanese revolution covered almost all the Sudanese territories through protests, which resulted in the killing of 40 martyrs, while the regime admitted only the death of 19 of them, and the number of injured amounted to 45. Moreover, the number of detainees in the security offices amounted to 400 detainees; in fact, the authorities resorted even to the release of the perpetrators to fill their prisons with the new detainees.
The party confirmed the closure of the social networking sites since Friday, December 21, and the return of the newspapers’ censorship, the confiscation of a number of them, the violation of laws, the kidnapping of the opponents and their families, as well as, the declaring of the state of emergency in a number of governorates.
The regime also prosecuted citizens and party leaders. For instance, the imprisonment of 13 protesters for 6 months in Umm Ruwaba, in North Kurdufan province, as well as 6 months imprisonment for the leaders of the Communist Party in El-Obeid city and the trial of a number of young people aged between 11 to 16 years old, and their release just after the signing of pledges by their parents, as well as, the presence of many other prisoners, who are awaiting for their trials.
The Communist Party of Sudan highlighted the support campaign of the Sudan uprising by playwrights, media professionals, judges, doctors, teachers and even a number of security officers, pointing to the resignation of the Minister of Health and the Democratic Unionist Party’s attitude towards the dissolving of the partnership with the ruling party and the freeze of some activists from their membership in anti-uprising parties, The “Umma federal” party, “National Umma” party, and the Reform Now (Islah) party.
The party pointed out to the solidarity vigils standing by the Sudanese uprising by the Sudanese residents in France and Australia. In addition, Amnesty International and dozens of human rights organizations ask for carrying out an investigation about the killings of the protestors.
