The General Inspector of Labour in Algeria reported in media statements that the interests of the labour inspectorate were able to issue 54 561 violation minutes and 19 350 written observations related to monitoring the implementation of legislation and the organization of work, following the field visits carried out during the first ten months of 2018.
He explained that the inspection visits carried out by the labour inspectorate in the field of monitoring the implementation of legislation and the organization of work allowed the issuance of 210 720 documents, of which 54 561 violation reports and 19 350 written observations , adding that the total field monitoring visits in the field of implementing the legislation and the organization of work carried out by the labour inspectorate during the same period was estimated at 229 344 visits from 176 256 institutions.
On the other hand, the labour inspectorate received 157 099 workers, including 87 741 workers, 18 127 workers 'representatives and 51 231 employees' representatives, which dealt with issues related to the general conditions of work and the issue of wages and collective relations at work.
In the area of collective labour disputes, the inspector-general confirmed that the labour inspectorate's interests recorded 92 strikes during the same period with a total participation rate of more than 17 percent and that the number of lost days due to these strikes exceeded 890 000 days, considering that the participation rate in strikes is " weak according to the total number of workers and that "most of these strikes" did not respect the procedures stipulated by law ".
He added that the most important reasons for professional and social strikes are mainly the revision of the wage system, the revision of the compensation system, the improvement of working conditions, the non-payment of wages in time and the non-renewal of the employment contracts.
