A crisis between the MPs in the Egyptian parliament and the officials of "BiscoMisr" company

A crisis broke out between the members of the Labour Committee in the Egyptian parliament and officials of the American company BiscoMisr, last Sunday, after the withdraw of a parliamentary delegation from visiting the company's subsidiary in Cairo. Moreover, they cancelled their visit to its subsidiary in Alexandria, as a response to their non-welcoming by the company’s officials.

A parliamentary delegation visited the headquarters of BiscoMisr in Cairo, which includes a number of members of the Labour Committee in the Egyptian parliament. The delegation was surprised that there were no officials to welcome them, as the latter refused to do so. This was justified by the head of the company's technical sector and head of the human resources sector, as the company was not informed by the presence of deputies and by such visit.

This crisis developed after the company representatives’ refusal of the entry of the deputies to the operating room to meet the workers. There were quarrels between the officials and the deputies. There were also quarrels between the workers who were dismissed from BiscoMisr and the new officials, in light of the presence of the parliamentary delegation. Thus, the deputies decided to withdraw and cancel their planned visit and to cancel the visit of the company's subsidiary of Alexandria, as well.

It is noteworthy that the company’s management did not pay the workers’ dues, as well as, the arbitrariness in the dismissal of some workers.
