The journalist Abdul Razzak Al-Rizgui, who works as a reporter in the Tunisian TV channel, “Telvza TV”, in the province of Kasserine, set fire on himself on Monday morning to protest against his miserable financial and social situations, after uploading a video minutes before the incident about his harsh financial and family situation.
The varying burns in Abdul Razzak Al-Rizgui's body led to his death despite the medical efforts to save him.
The incident caused a widespread anger among the Tunisian journalists, as this painful incident reflects the suffering of hundreds of journalists, reporters and photographers from their miserable professional and social situations, lack of legal fees, violations of the labour laws, in addition to their arbitrary dismissal and deprivation of social security.
