The National Conference of the Democratic Confederation of Labour elected “Abdelkader Zayer” as the secretary-general, after “Noubair Al-Omaoui”, during the Sixth National Conference of the Union. Zayer won with an absolute majority against his counterpart, “Baroudi Mohamed”.
It is noteworthy that “Noubair Al-Omaoui” headed the Democratic Confederation since its foundation in 1978, and missed the Sixth National Conference for health reasons.
The Sixth National Conference started on 23,24 and 25 November 2018 under the slogan "Continuing the struggle for freedom, democracy, development and social justice", which coincided with the anniversary of the confederation establishment on 25 and 26 November 1978 at “Al-Kawakeb” theatre, “Al-Fida” street, Casablanca.
The conference was of great importance in the trade union and political scene in Morocco, which is establishing a new phase to manage its affairs, and to meet the challenges with its national, regional and international relations. It also formed a new trend regarding the backward policies and the government policy aiming at targeting the labour rights and gains. It refuses to improve the financial and social conditions of the Moroccan workers, respect for the trade union freedoms and institutionalize social dialogue.
