The security authorities in the city of Taourirt arrested, last Thursday, 10 workers from the "Ozone" company for cleaning responsible of the waste of the city, after entering in a strike and an open protest against the trade union restrictions by the company’s management.
According to trade union sources, the prosecutor released five workers on bail, while the other five were transferred to the local prison waiting for their trial. In fact, they were charged of “paralyzing the movement of a number of trucks", which were brought by the company from Fez to replace the striking workers, as the city of Taourirt has become full of dirt and waste.
The trade union offices issued solidarity statements in protest against the dismissal of the four workers from the trade union office by the "Ozone" company after raising professional and social demands.
The city is expected to witness a series of labour protests to ask peacefully about the workers’ trade union rights and the release of the detained workers.
