UNICEF: 870 Syrian children have been killed in nine months, including 30 children recently

Thee UNICEF confirmed the deaths of 870 children in the first nine months of this year.

The UNICEF Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, “Khayrat Kabalari, said in a recent statement” that this is the highest number ever during that period since the beginning of the conflict in 2011.

He also pointed out that there is a possibility that the actual figures are much higher than stated. The UNICEF also confirmed the killing of more than 30 children in the recent violent attacks in the village of "Shaafa" in eastern Syria, noting that the recent reports received by the UNICEF were very shocking.

The UNICEF reported that the number of the announced killings shows that the war on children in Syria is not over, noting that during the eight years of the war, the basic principle of protecting children has been completely abandoned and ignored.

“Kabalari” warned of the dangerous consequences for children throughout Syria and called on all the warring parties to bear their responsibilities to provide full protection for all the children, regardless their location.
