Four sewage workers, including two brothers, were killed during the maintenance of a sewage well in Safaga city. The corpses were removed by the civil protection forces and some citizens and transferred to the morgue of Safaga public hospital. Moreover, a report of the incident was released and the prosecution notified to complete the investigation.
The investigations revealed that the dead were “Khaled Ali Mohammed”, 23 years old, his brother “Mohammed”, 27 years old,” Mohammed Jamal”, 26 years old, and “Zakaria Antar Asran”, 28 years old.
The preliminary investigations revealed that two workers fell in sewage well while the contractor and his brother tried to rescue them; however, they all fell inside the same well and died. The corpses were removed, then, the investigators added that the workers are from the “Khamim” center in “Sohag”, while the contractor and his brother are from the village of " Tawairat "in the province of" Qena ".
Eyewitnesses confirmed that the smell of the sewer was dense and affected the passers-by, and there was no professional safety equipment for the workers.
