The Executive Office of the Federation of Hadhramaut Trade Unions issued a statement last week announcing its position from popular demands, due to high prices and the collapse of the national currency against the other currencies and the low salaries and wages.
In its statement, the federation called for putting an end to the deterioration of the national currency, accounting those involved in exchange, tightening control over the prices of foodstuffs and oil derivatives, taking alternative steps, breaking monopolies, controlling and accounting the violators, as well as, the promotion of development.
The Executive Office of the Federation of Hadhramaut Trade Unions (Valley and Sahara) confirmed their continuation to move and escalate with various sectors to follow up those demands by peaceful and legal means. In addition, he noted that the crisis suffered by the country was not accompanied by any reforms by the government, which increased the suffering of various sectors, including the workers and employees in all the governmental facilities and services, whose salaries and wages remained at the minimum.
It is noteworthy that the region is witnessing popular anger. In fact, protestors closed the streets and stopped businesses, shops and money exchangers denouncing the difficult economic conditions of the insane rise in prices and oil derivatives and the deterioration of the national currency against the other currencies.
