n light of the non-seriousness of the ministry in negotiations: The higher education workers in Tunisia will enter into strike on 19 and 20 September

The General Federation of Higher Education Employees decided to strike on 19 and 20 September 2018 due to the non-seriousness of the Ministry of Higher Education in negotiating the workers’ professional and social demands.

It also asks to urge the issuance of the Basic Law for technicians and the Basic Law for the offices’ workers and to withdraw the university’s entrance grant to all the employees of the sector, as well as, to activate the minutes of November 23, 2016 the grant’s amendment.

The federation also calls for the empowerment of the higher education employees to launch a cooperation and accelerate in the activation of the outputs of the national conference for the reform of the higher education sector. It also called for the creation of training centers for the employees at the university level, in addition to the provision of all the workers in this sector with exceptional promotions starting from September 2019.

The higher education employees stressed also that they should be provided with exceptional promotion, three years before the retirement and the need to activate the agreement on the participation of the trade union party in all the matters concerning their professional course.
