After the layoff of hundreds of them: Today is the first hearing session of "BiscoMisr” workers’ case in Egypt

Today is the first hearing of the “BiscoMisr” workers’ case in Egypt, following the layoff of hundreds of them on the grounds of asking for their dues.

The employees of “BiscoMisr” have organized a protest inside the company to ask for their financial dues. As a result, some of them have been arrested, in addition to the non-renewal of contracts of hundreds of them, and the end of permanent workers' contracts. The direction kept instead only temporary contracts for three months. Besides, workers have been arbitrarily dismissed for no clear reason.

In the same context, the director general of Trade Union Organizations in the Ministry of Manpower said that the negotiations between the company and the Ministry of Manpower on the workers' rights are still ongoing. He added in a media statement that a collective negotiations’ session was held with “BiscoMisr” and its administration on Sunday, however, the company’s representative was absent which led to the postponement of the meeting to 10 September.
