In a dangerous precedent: attacks and bullying against the workers of MOGADOR MENARA Hotel in Marrakech

The MENARA subsidiary of the Moroccan Association for Human Rights of Marrakech denounced “the bullying practiced“ by the management of MOGADOR MENARA to stop the workers’ strike by employing individuals from outside the hotel and by attacking them violently.

The Association's branch also condemned in its statement the violation of freedoms and trade union principles in the five stars hotel, refusing the administration’s decision to transfer some workers outside the city of Marrakesh, considering it as an arbitrary shift and systematic tightening by the hotel management on the freedom of association, which is guaranteed by the international human rights law. They also called for the return of all workers to their jobs and to ensure their trade union rights, freedoms and the right to union membership.

It called also for the concerned authorities to open an urgent and transparent investigation and take the necessary legal measures to ensure the rule of law, respect for the relevant international commitments and the implementation of the rules of justice and equity, in addition to the protection against abuse and injustice, calling on the authorities to ensure urgent dialogue with the workers' representatives to review their just and legitimate demands.
