Trade union sources confirmed that 50 migrant workers working in one of the main projects in “Wadi Mousa” city in Petra province have not yet received their financial dues for more than two months.
The concerned workers complained to the authorities in the region about the non-receipt of their wages . They pointed out their suffering and their urgent need for money, especially to prepare for Eid al-Adha at that time.
It is noteworthy that the Petra region is one of the parties in this project, but sources from within the region highlighted that there is no contractual authority for the territory over these workers, and that the contractor will be called in an amicable manner to facilitate the task of workers from the humanitarian side. However, in case the contractor would not meet the workers' demands, they can resort to the judiciary to ask for their rights by legal means.
