Among the 680 000 foreign migrants in Libya, 66% are from the sub-Saharan Africa

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) revealed that the number of migrants in Libya represents 11% of the country's population, indicating that most of these migrants from the African countries.

The organization published statistics showing that the number of migrants in Libya in 2018, amounted to about 679 thousand and 386 immigrants.

According to the organization’s report, the migrants are from 42 different nationalities, among them 66 per cent from the sub-Saharan Africa, 28 per cent from North Africa, then 6 per cent from Asia and the Middle East.

The report revealed that the percentage of migrant minors is 8% of the total migrants, and most of them came without their parents, while 92% of adults, including 90% of males and 10% of women.

Most of them are in Tripoli by 23%, followed by Misurata in the second place by 12%, and Ajdabiya by 10%.
