The Bahrain free labor unions federation becomes a member of the Board of Directors of the Social Insurance

The Bahrain free labor unions federation considered that its designation as a member of the Social Insurance Board of Directors is a step forward towards the right direction. In fact, the federation has in many occasions called for the need to nominate a representative in the committee, especially that the commission did not had workers’ representatives for more than five years due to the resignation of the former General Union representatives for political reasons away from the labor affairs.

It stressed that the presence of workers 'representatives will have a positive impact on the preservation of the workers' rights and gains, and working on meeting the expectations of the Bahraini workers and retirees in the sustainability of funds and to reach a solution that satisfies everyone by the consensus of all parties regarding the retirement issue.

In the same context, “Osama Salman Hassan Mohammed”, the Secretary General of the Bahrain free labor unions federation, explained that since the proposed amendments to the current pension law, the federation has played an important role in discussing the proposed amendments during its meetings with the government officials through expressing its views and attitudes regarding these amendments. He stressed his rejection of any violation of the workers’ rights and gains and the non-involvement of workers with the burdens of the commission’s’ reform.

The federation stressed also the importance of improving the status of pension funds and developing the services provided to pensioners and participants in a way that would protect the public interest and ensure the sustainability of pension and insurance funds, in addition to the preservation of the participants and retirees’ rights.
