A number of journalists and employees of the private TV channel “Hannibal TV” launched a protest yesterday, in front of the headquarters of the Ministry of Industry to ask for the clarifications about the channel’s status and to provide them with their wages that they have not received for 3 months.
In fact, the channel is witnessing a wave of protests because of the halt in paying more than 152 workers from journalists, technicians and workers, since last June. They condemned what they considered as the policy of indifference and procrastination pursued by the management of the channel, threatening to enter in an open-ended strike at the headquarters of the channel in “Soukra” district of Ariana province. They also threatened to enter in a hunger strike in case of the non-implementation of the previous signed agreements with the trade union party on the improvement of the working and financial conditions of workers and their radical settlement.
The union stressed that the demands of workers and journalists have been sent to the authorities of the province of "Ariana", which pledged to review the workers, responsibles, and shareholders’ files, whether Tunisians or Turks who own 49 percent of the shares.
In addition, the trade union party did not conceal in media statements the possibility of a workers’ strike in front of the headquarters of the province and to enter in a hunger strike, in case of the non-reaching of radical solutions that would end the suffering of workers who found themselves facing marginalization and hunger and lack of opportunities after the halt of their pensions and the payment of their financial dues.
