Gaza, UNRWA: increasing tension and an open strike is likely to take place

The UNRWA's workers’ union threatened to enter into an open strike if the administration doesn’t withdraw its decisions on downsizing and dismissing workers.

The workers continue their strike inside and outside the UNRWA headquarters in Gaza.

The sources confirmed that the employees will send a labor dispute paper to the administration, which allows the union to announce a strike after 21 days with the practice of all trade union activities during this period.

It is noteworthy that the workers’ strike started on Monday with the participation of about 1500 employees and many of them are still in the Gaza regional office.

Trade union sources confirmed that the strikes will continue in protest against the administration of the agency which has arbitrary dismissed 125 employees and threatened the work stability of 875, among which some of partial work and others who are threatened until the end of the year.
