The Arab MP in the Knesset, “Jamal Zahalka”, said that the High Follow-Up Committee for Arab citizens of the occupied Palestinian intends to call for a general strike in protest against the racist Nation-State Bill.
He explained that extensive calls are underway to prepare for this step, as it is intended to announce the date of the strike after the consultation with all the Palestinian parties.
He added: "The strike of all the Palestinians is a direct message to the whole world, as the Palestinians represent one entity and that they can be divided only by one. In addition, they are very active and brave facing their destiny and seeking to correct the historical injustice they have been through for years to only achieve justice, no less, no more." He describes the law as a replica of the Apartheid laws of South Africa, adding that: “there is no such law in any country in the world today. "
Last Thursday, the Knesset passed a final law stating that "In Israel, sovereignty is limited only to Jews, and that migration leads to direct citizenship for Jews only." He also stated that " “Al-Quds” is the capital of Israel”, and that "Hebrew is the official language of the state", which means that Arabic has lost its status as an official language.
This bill led to Arab and international protests and anger among the Arab Palestinians of the 1948 occupied Palestinian territories, who hold the Israeli nationality, and who expressed their complete rejection of the law.
