Jordan: The details of the new procedures concerning the leaving of migrant workers

The Jordanian Ministry of Labor issued new instructions regarding the leaving of migrant workers from the unrestricted nationalities, including the Egyptian, requiring that migrant worker in all sectors should have their leaves before leaving the country.

According to the Ministry's statement, the employer or the commissioner must request and set the duration of the leave. The workers are not entitled to leave and return before 6 months from the issuing of the work permit. If the worker obtains a leave, he must leave after 48 hours from the date of its receive.

On the other hand, a migrant worker who gets a leave can leave and return to the Kingdom at any time before the end of his / her leave. If the worker wishes to extend the period of his/her leave with the employer's consent, the employer must apply to the Labor Office without requiring the written consent of the worker.

In case the migrant worker from an unrestricted nationality wants a final departure, a permit fee of 500 dinars will be paid for each year or part of the year for which a work permit has not been issued in advance. He/she is also allowed to leave permanently without paying the permit fee, if he/she leaves the country within a period of 3 months from the date of the end of his/her work permit.
