The Tunisia's General Labor Union (UGTT) and the Tunisian government concluded an agreement on the increase in the minimum wage for employees, workers and retirees on Saturday.
The agreement includes 15 provisions about small increases of $ 10 in the minimum wage for workers, employees and retirees. Under this agreement, the employment of workers of any public or private enterprise should guarantee that workers are paid above the minimum wage set in Tunisia.
The new agreement also includes the implementation of the November 27, 2017 agreement on the settlement of municipal workers and fragile labor, as well as, the agreement to continue to support the basic commodities and maintain their prices, and to pay the increase in wages for the retirees.
The Secretary-General of the General Labor Union (UGTT), “Noureddine Tabboubi”, said in a media statement that he agreed with Prime Minister “Youssef Al-Shahid” to sign an agreement between the government and the union on Monday, setting the deadline for the completion of negotiations on the increase in wages of public sector workers.
“Tabboubi” also announced that the final list of the so-called "Selected people" will be signed tomorrow, on Tuesday, by students and university graduates belonging to the General Union of Tunisian Students (a student union), whose files were sorted by the former regime and were deprived from obtaining jobs because of their union and political activity at the university, while the others will be referred to the Ministry of Social Affairs to settle their situations.
