The workers of the Science City in Tunisia lunched a strike for two days, during Wednesday and Thursday, to protest against the targeting of trade unionists and workers, as well as, ignoring their pending professional and social demands.
Our trade union sources confirmed that the situation in the City of Science has become intolerable because of the arbitrariness of the Director-General and her injustice and ill-treatment towards the agents and the unionists.
The employees of the city are asking for the settling of a number of files, including the respect for the right of trade union and the implementation of the signed agreements between the administrative and trade union parties, the revision of the basic system and the allocation of a percentage of income for the benefit of social interventions and assigning risk and archiving grants for those who deserve it and the settlement of the status of the projects’ supervisors, as well as, the other professional and social files.
It is worth mentioning that the Science City is a Tunisian institution that was launched in April 1992 with the aim of spreading the scientific culture among all social groups of students, children, youth and families. Its main activity is the organization of permanent, temporary, and mobile scientific exhibitions.
