One of the workers of the Independent High Electoral Commission, died on Saturday, while others were injured after the fall of the counting and sorting devices on them in the capital Baghdad.
The workers were preparing to count and sort manually, in the commission’s stores in Baghdad, when several devices fell on their heads, which led to their crash and the death and injury of a number of employees.
Eyewitnesses confirmed to the local media that the accident took place during the work in the warehouse of several checking devices when the rack of equipment fell on a number of employees, which led to the death of one employee and the serious injury of other employees.
A number of social media users have seen pictures from the headquarters of the Commission showing the healing of number of injured people, while the boxes containing the counting devices and manual sorting are in scattered on the ground amid the gathering of a large number of employees.
It is noteworthy that the Federal Supreme Court confirmed the decision of the Parliament to restore the counting and manual sorting of votes under the supervision of judges assigned instead of the electronic counting and sorting, on the grounds of accusations of fraud.
