General strike of tomorrow in Morocco: dozens of organizations announce their response to the call of the Democratic Confederation of Labour

Dozens of Moroccan organizations announced their involvement in tomorrow’s general strike called by the Confederation of Democratic Labour (on Wednesday 20 June) to protest against the government's failure to social dialogue and its insistence on choices and decisions that led to the social crisis in the country, unemployment, poverty and social marginalization and economic exclusion.

Tomorrow's strike also marks the anniversary of the June 20, 1981 uprising, known as the "Komira Martyrs’" strike, which came in response to the state's decision to raise the basic food prices.

The Federation of the Left (the Unified Socialist, the Federal National Congress, the Socialist Democratic Front), the Democratic Approach Party, the Moroccan Association for Human Rights, Attac Morocco and the National Federation of Education (Democratic) issued a joint appeal calling for intensive participation in the general strike of tomorrow.

The political, trade union and human rights organizations that signed the appeal called for "confronting the vicious and unprecedented attack on the social gains and the purchasing power of the citizens and facing the greed of the capital and monopolies and the resulting prices."

These organizations stressed the necessity of confronting the dependence of capital, the alliance of power and money, and the wild neo-liberal tendencies that were based on public services, such as education, health, housing and decent work, and deepened the hierarchal and spatial differences, stressing the need to integrate the popular movement and social protests for freedom, dignity and social justice. Moreover, to address the corruption that has become in the veins of the state and the growing phenomenon of monopoly and accumulation of wealth in the hands of a small class and the widening of class differences, according to statements by representatives of the organizations and organizations that will participate in the strike tomorrow.
