The Libyan newspaper stated that the workers of the industrial complex "Melita" suffer from the miserable conditions of the residential camp JTS, which is endangering and threatening their lives.
The union revealed that the camp, which is the engineers and technicians’ residency, lacks all the necessities of a decent life and lacks the basic rights of workers such as health insurance and hygiene. In fact, the number of harmful insects increased, as well as, the stagnant water, despite the correspondence of the concerned authorities and informing the National Oil Corporation.
The lifespan of this camp is 24 months, which is the period specified for the implementation of the project by JTS. However, due to the successive administrations of "Mellitah Oil and Gas" company, this camp has been used for more than 15 years and does not have the minimum safety requirements and it is necessary to remove it as soon as possible.
