A video posted on the social media sites has angered tens of thousands of people because of the tragedy of the Egyptian workers belonging to the same family with their Saudi sponsor.
The video, which was filmed by one of the workers in one of the detention rooms at “Al-Shemisi” prison in Riyadh, spoke of a distress call by 7 brothers and cousins to the King of Saudi Arabia to rescue them from their sponsor and return them to Egypt. They revealed the extent of their suffering with their sponsor, “Hassan Barqi Yahya Al-Majdi”, stressing that they came mainly to work, but they were surprised at the kind of the work, which was completely different from what was agreed on.
According to one of the workers in the video, the sponsor did not only employ them, but exploited them without providing them with their financial dues and legitimate rights, before the issuing of a complaint about their escape through exploiting his authority and his relations.
Indeed, the seven Egyptians were arrested and imprisoned in “Al-Shemisi” prison in Riyadh without charge or trial. They were even forced to declare their waiver in return for their release and to return to their homeland and families.
