On last Wednesday, the Algerian security forces expelled dozens of fish sellers from their site, who have been accustomed to selling it for decades, following the decision of the governorate to vacate the place and impose the departure and seizure of their goods.
Fish vendors have threatened to enter in a hunger strike and mass suicide if they still suffer from the same abuses and miserable conditions due to the security pursuits. They also informed the National Committee of Hunt about these grievances to find the necessary solutions, especially since most of them are family’s breadwinners, who found themselves subjected not only to chasing but also and to unemployment.
It should be noted that the case of the fish vendors dates back to about a year ago, where the governorate of Algeria continues to pursue them and expel them from their usual sites with the beginning of the construction work in the port, which led them to change their usual places and activities. However, they were banned even to change their workplaces as they were daily chased by the security forces.
