On 30 and 31 May 2018 workers of the Development and Exploitation of the Southern Petroleum License (SODEPS), who work in the desert of “Tataouine” governorate entered into a strike, without stopping the production, asking for the settling of the accumulated professional and social files.
The trade union party had previously called for a strike to allow more negotiations and to solve the chronic problems of workers. In fact, it was forced to approve on the strike because of the intransigence of the administrative side and its refusal to interact positively with the trade unions' proposals aimed at reducing social tension, which happened during a session of negotiations held at the governorate headquarters and attended by representatives of the administration, workers and local authorities.
