The National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking in the UAE reported last Friday that it had registered 16 cases over the past year, including 10 cases involving sexual exploitation and 6 cases involving the sale of victims in human trafficking.
The committee explained that in all of these cases, 28 female and child victims were assisted to get rid of the exploitation of traffickers and to the referral of 48 traffickers to court.
The committee's report confirmed that the concerned courts had issued judgments in 7 cases, and that the remaining 9 cases were expected to be issued this year, while two defendants were sentenced to life imprisonment in 2017, among registered cases of 2016, and were not sentenced during that year.
