Egypt_ Hilton management dismissed 44 workers in the central financial management in Cairo, after a meeting held with the workers in which the administration did not show any clear reasons for the termination of the their annual contracts.
One of the dismissed workers stated that the administration met with the financial management personnel in Cairo a few days before Eid to tell them the decision of terminating their contracts in order to ease the financial burdens on the company.
He adds, the administration refused to pay any compensation to workers who worked in the company between eight to 15 years, noting the absence of any other source of income for these workers.
He confirmed that the administration preferred to dispense the Egyptian labour in exchange for maintaining the foreign managers who have access to significant financial advantages, pointing to the workers demand to reduce these benefits to ease the financial burdens.
According to the same source, the administration in Egypt informed the workers that the suspension decision was issued directly from the central administration based in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. He points out that workers have taken a number of legal actions by filling a collective complaint in the action against the Management Office of the Hilton Hotels as well as hiring a lawyer to file a lawsuit. The affected workers plan to organize a protest on Wednesday in front of the Council of Ministers for the disbursement of their rights, two months worth for each year that they have worked for in the company.
