Palestine – Activists and media workers in Palestine and the Arab world, are tweeting through social networking sites, to support the Palestinian prisoners who declared an open hunger strike on Monday, through a number of hashtags, most notably the #dignity_ strike, the most tweeted hashtag in the Arab world. Through this hashtag, the Palestinians post and report on the prisoners news, the names of hunger strikers, supportive national statements, and information about the procedures followed by administration of occupation prisons during the strike. As well as the health condition of the prisoners and the stages of the hunger strikes, activists also publish posters and video clips that broadcast the national spirit of the Palestinians, and calls on to break the silent and go out to the streets to support the prisoners in their battle with the occupation. Journalist Ahmed Jarrar published a picture via Twitter of the martyr Abdul Qader Abu al-Fahm, noting that he was the first martyr of the captive movement and was martyred during his hunger strike in Ashkelon prison in 1970. He also wrote: 15,000 prisoners were arrested between 1967 and 2017. Fifty-five female prisoners are currently in Israeli jails, including 15 married women and 12 women who have given birth to their children inside the prison.
