Morocco: Moroccan Labour Union in solidarity with Palestinian prisoners on hunger strike

Morocco – Morocco – Moroccan Labour Union expressed its solidarity with the Palestinian prisoners who have been on hunger strike since April 17, 2017, to protest persisting inhumane conditions in Israeli prison facilities. This strike came as an extension of previous steps to defend the Palestinian presence and identity, and to strengthen the legal status of prisoners to confirm the legitimacy of their struggle to resist the occupation. The Moroccan Labour Union said in a statement that the prisoners have resorted to this option reflects the impossibility of coexistence with the reality imposed on them, especially after the failure of the international community and the failure of human rights institutions to compel the Zionist occupation state to respect international conventions in dealing with Palestinian prisoners, including children and women who are considered hostages. The Union also announced a number of initiatives through its professional and regional organizations throughout the country, and through its parliamentary team in the House of Counselors to request a meeting of the Moroccan Parliament in its two chambers in solidarity with the Palestinian prisoner. The Union also decided to contact The Arab Trade Union Confederation and the International Trade Union Confederation in Brussels to organize a rally for Arab and international trade union organizations in support of the Palestinian cause and in solidarity with Palestinian prisoners.
