Algeria: Electricity distribution workers demand cancellation of arbitrary decisions taken against them

Algeria – Workers of Electricity and Gas Distribution Directorate in Bulogin protested to demand the abolition of all arbitrary decisions and pressure exercised on workers after their participation in the strike that the Independent National Union of Electricity and Gas Workers called for. Officials at the Electricity and Gas Distribution Directorate were surprised by the protest of workers, which coincided with the date when workers were called to appear before the disciplinary boards, for their participation in the recent strike. Protesters condemned the recent practices against workers in the capital and other states, stating that engaging in a union and participating in protest movements is a constitutional right that does not require punishment, and that it is illegal to pressure workers simply because they have demanded legitimate rights
