Mauritania: “Amal program” workers ask for to settling their professional situations

Amal program workers carried out a protest in front of the“Nouakchott”office, yesterday asking for a contract of employment registered in theLabour Court.

The protesters stressed the need for “Amal program” workers to benefit from the services of the National Social Security Fund, in addition to the activationof the observation ofAmal program company and the improving of the observers’ conditions. They also stressed thebenefitsfrom a bonus that should not be less than 5000 Ougiya of the new currency, as well as the need to improve the salaries of workers and their living conditions,calling for the recognition of the coordination representing them and open the door for dialogue and consultation andto involve them in making important decisions thatmay affect the nature of their work.

It is noteworthy that the Mauritanian state has set up the 2012 Hope Program “Amal” to help poor people cope with the rising food prices.
