Tunisia: Congestion in ‘Technoverre’ complex for crystal industry in “Manouba“governorate

A number of workers of the Technoverre complex for crystal industry in the Mornaguia area of “Manouba“province enter an open strike to demand the return of the expelled 31 workers.

The events are the consequence of an event that happened when three trade unionists went to the agencys agent to inquire about the situation of a number of union workers being dismissed without their knowledge and their involvement in another trade union organization. The discussion was intensified so that a unionist could be attacked with physical violence, causing a number of workers to protest.

The workers were surprised by an administrative decision to stop all of them from working, until they were referred to the disciplinary board and filed a complaint against them to the security. They were also informed that their working days would not be paid, prompting them to protest.

Despite the intervention of the Regional Labour Union in “Manouba” and the regional authorities in order to calm the situation, the administration adhered to the decision to stop the workers from working, making them enter on an open strike at the compound demanding their right to return to work.
