Jordan – The Ministry of Labour and he General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions signed a Memorandum of Understanding to regulate the issuance of work permits for Syrian workers in the construction sector and register them under the umbrella of social security through the General Federation of Trade Unions. The Minister of Labour Ali Al-Ghazzawi and the President of the Jordanian Federation of Trade Unions Mazen Al-Maaytah signed the Understanding Memorandum under the support of the International Labour Organization as part of its programs to enable refugee hosting communities. According to this memorandum, the Syrian worker will obtain a type of permit through the Federation that give them the freedom to move from one employer to another according to conditions that protect all parties, as required by market conditions and the need for construction projects and job opportunities.
