Bahrain – Secretary-General of the General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions Hassan Hilwaji, denounced a suggestion by one of the House of Representatives deputies to the Finance Committee to develop legislation to allow the use of saving fund against unemployment to fund the budget deficit. The Secretary-General said that the MP’s statement is surprising since what was expected by the community and workers in particular is to improve the conditions and grants of insurance in terms of raising the maximum limit of grant or in terms of increasing the duration, helping the unemployed to bear the minimum cost of living and not spend These savings to finance the general budget.The Secretary-General said that the MPs are aware that this saving is an important source to support the unemployed until he has a chance to work. The House of Representatives have passed several suggestions for the development of the insurance system against unemployment and how come now they want to drain the fund rather than maximize its savings.
