Egypt: Fayoum hospital workers go on strike

Egypt – Dozens of workers in Fayoum General Hospital protested in front of the hospital chanting slogans demanding their financial rights, and a number of workers in the Sanawrs Central hospital joined their protest, and demanded the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in the province to intervene and support their demands. The 350 workers wen on a strike due to low monthly salaries that reach only 500 pounds, and that they do not receive any allowances, although they are permanently employed. I have been working for 25 years and I get  475 pounds a month, said Hassania Hassan, a worker at the blood bank at Fayoum General Hospital, adding that she carry out difficult tasks, wiping blood from floors and cleaning the place without receiving other financial benefits or allowances. Hasniyeh said she had been infected with the C virus because of her work, but she was receiving treatment outside the hospital, demanding that she obtain all of her financial rights.
