Lebanon: General strike for professors and staff to demand better salaries

Lebanon – The professors carried out a strike called by the Association of public administration staff and trade union committees in Riad Solh to demand the approval of the scales and salaries series and pay wages. The National Union for Workers raised a banner calling for raising the minimum wage to 1200000 and approving the escalating wage scale and raising compensation to 75 percent of the minimum. The protesters demanded a fair tax policy. The administration staff appealed to the Lebanese public opinion, stressing that our salaries do not impoverish the country, we refuse to impose taxes on low-income people because we are them”. The employees called on Prime Minister Hariri to stand by our side, our struggle is an introduction to administrative and political reform to promote the state.
